Deptford Lounge and the Albany are among the 180+ venues across the country participating in Disabled Access Day. In its second year it’s an annual day that encourages disabled people to try something new, and businesses and venues to let people with disabilities know about their access facilities and provision. Sponsored by Euan’s Guide (the access review website and app), Disabled Access Day will take place on Saturday 12 March and the programmes at Deptford Lounge and the Albany include the following.
Events at the Albany
Recruitment Surgery, 3pm - 5pm
Workshops on writing job applications and interview technique. Feel free to bring the details of a job or volunteer position that you would like to apply to. Get on one on one help with application and interview processes.
Drinks Reception, 5pm - 5.30pm
Presentation and drinks reception to celebrate the Albany’s Gold Attitude is Everything Award.
Massage, 3pm – 5pm
Free professional massage. Relax and feel pampered in a peaceful setting. You can choose from neck, back and shoulder massage, reflexology, Indian head massage or gentle hand massage.
Events at Deptford Lounge
Tours, 9am – 5pm
Tours of Deptford Lounge are available between 9am and 5pm. Just pop in and ask at reception.
Exhibition: Redstart Arts, All Day
A retrospective exhibition of some of the projects that Redstart Arts have been involved in over the past five years in Deptford. Redstart Arts is an arts project for young adults with learning disabilities, based at Deptford Lounge. They currently have a residency at the Horniman Museum and Gardens.
Free Workshop with the Redstarts team, 11am - 1pm
Redstarts will be running a free photo montage and collage workshop, all supplies and equipment will be provided by the organisation. No experience necessary just a willingness to have a go.
Film Mystery Film Screening, 2.30pm
Free family film screening to tie in with the theme of the day. Come along to find out more.
All the activities are free and you can drop-in, there is no need to book.
