    Cabaret Playroom

Established artists and emerging performers bring ground-breaking works-in-progress to the Albany.

Now in its seventh season, the roll call of performers who've tried out new work in the Albany's intimate studio space to date includes Matthew Floyd-Jones, Ria Lina, Holly Penfield, Sarah-Louise Young, Kiki Lovechild and Paul L Martin. The night is co-curated by cabaret performer Tricity Vogue, and Lisa Lee of Rude Grrl.

    October Line-up:

    Paulus

Paulus is a Chanteux who lives in the shadows of society. Wherever there are families watching The One Show, Paulus is nearby with wire-clippers.

Wherever people extol the virtues of Michael McIntyre, Paulus is prepared with gaffer tape.

We are living in a dark and dingy world. Paulus just snuffed out a candle.

    Jon Hicks

Toy elephant wrangler, varieties answer to Picasso, Zen master of the obstacle course, contraption creator, friend and master to Frank the stunt dog.

Jon performs solo, in collaborations and as a member of award winning troupe Slightly Fat Features.

He has many sides, most of them unspoken.

He has performed around the world and recently at Sunday Night at The London Palladium

He is working towards a new theatre show Kickmouse Mysterium.

2nd or 3rd Best Alternative Performer - London Cabaret Awards 2014.

    ‘Funereal Rocker.’ Evening Standard

    ‘Sensational.’ The Stage

    ‘Deadpan ace.’ Montreal Gazette

‘Bizarre and delightful.’ British Comedy Guide

    Diva Regina

This globetrotting Diva will delight you with her multilingual musical numbers. She has been spreading her European flair all over London (Bar Wotever at the RVT and the Glory, Apothecary Cabaret, Distraction Club, Funny Women Cabaret) and beyond (Norwich Playhouse, LeeFest, Wonderland Festival and The Omnitorium's Rotating Roster at the Edinburgh Fringe), and they even let her sing on the telly on Channel 5's Comedy Bigmouths.

Prepare to fall hard for this polyglot songstress (please do, she needs a British passport pronto…).

    Dame Dolly Donut

Dame Dolly Donut was born in the village of Loose Chippings by the Roadside and now resides in the town of Much Fiddling on the Dole. Dolly is the comedy creation of Steve Boyce. Over the course of his career Steve has been involved with almost every aspect of theatrical production. The Dame Dolly Donut Show was his first outing as writer and producer and he had an amazing time with the show at the Edinburgh Fringe. He is delighted to be reprising the role of Dolly at Cabaret Playroom with a previously unperformed tale from her life story. As befits a true lady she refuses to state her age but tells us that she was born at a young age and is now old enough to know better.

    Hosted by Tricity Vogue.
