The Adventures of Prince Achmed featuring live music performance of a new score composed by Arun Ghosh.
Your chance to immerse yourself in a truly unique experience – the Albany theatre will be transformed into a sumptuous Bedouin style lounge for a screening of The Adventures of Prince Achmed (1931) - the oldest surviving feature-length animation in cinema's history.
Lotte Reiniger’s pioneering silhouette animation takes its inspiration from 1001 Arabian Nights resulting in hypnotic and visually breathtaking imagery.
This stunning film will be accompanied by a contemporary soundtrack especially created by Clarinet virtuoso Arun Ghosh and will feature Adriano Adewale, Shabaka Hutchings, Jenny Adejayan, Corey Mwamba and Liran Donin.
It will draw upon the cinematic orchestration styles of retro 70s blaxploitation, classic westerns, Bollywood melodrama & Hammer horror with elements of hip hop, jazz and traditional Middle Eastern sounds.
