Just how open and inclusive is post apartheid South Africa when you're still considered 'different'?

With a powerful central performance from Pam Ngwabeni, Ncamisa! Kiss the Women is based on real life experiences and depicts a world of deep passion, casual violence, soccer and song.

    Directed by Peter Hayes

Featuring unique interpretations of music from Antony and the Johnsons and Lucinda Williams.

‘A beautifully crafted piece of theatre that rather than pointing fingers, celebrates the lives, loves, ups and downs of these young women. Pam and Peter have created a supremely entertaining stage work, filled with humour and pathos, light and shade.’ SA Mail and Guardian.

'Pam Ngwabeni literally takes the bull by the horns and shakes up the myths and preconceptions that surround sexual orientation…the empathy moved one to tears.' The Citizen.

Director Peter Hayes on the play:

'You may ask, why after all this time focus on Lesbians in the Townships?  It’s simple: these women are living in a war zone: corrective rape, murder.  It’s been fascinating listening to Pam’s stories in rehearsal. What it reflects is foreign and new and startling and scary and inspirational.  When I see another person who manages to not just survive, but flourish against inhuman odds, I am always inspired.'

Director Peter Hayes on working with Pam:

'At last the dream is becoming real and I’m working with a very exciting young actor.  Pam has a dynamic presence on stage and the necessary bravery and passion to confront the issues that the play will demand, it could be said she is, “a woman with the strength of 10 000, 000 men.'
