Zimbabwe-born and Lewisham-raised artist-composer ESKA comes from a rich musical background. As a vocalist, her legendary virtuosity has attracted the attentions of a host of acclaimed artists, including Tony Allen and David Sylvian. Her vocal arrangements have credits on 3 Mercury-nominated albums that range from hip-hop to indie to jazz. ESKA’s first solo project saw her collaborate with artist-producer Matthew Herbert. Recently, she conducted a 150-voice choir for Bobby McFerrin‘s improvisational performance at the Jazz a Vienne Festival, France.

Arun Ghosh is one of our Associate Artists and renowned for his trademark Indo Jazz sound. Constantly experimenting with live formats and arrangements has been key to his growing reputation for creating music that is “...at once no-nonsense, thrilling and beautiful...uproarious and irresistible” (The Telegraph).

SoundCheck is curated by Simon Deacon, Head of Popular Music at Goldsmiths, historically prolific in nurturing such luminaries as Alex James, Graham Coxon, Martyn Brabbins, John Cale, John Illsey, Malcolm McLaren and Kanya King.
