    What Happens in the Winter

Upswing returns with an arresting mix of aerial, theatre and dance that treads a delicate path through the minds and bodies of two women who still want to fly.

'Demonstrates the possibilities that emerge when circus, dance and theatre meet and meld.'

    The Guardian on Upswing's Fallen

‘We meet our two heroines in the first days of autumn. Slowly imperceptibly the days are getting shorter, the sun is hanging lower in the sky, a chill is entering the air.'

Using the lives of physical performers as inspiration, Upswing asks what happens as you get older, when your profession requires super human strength and skills, but ageing has gradually taken away the tools of your trade?

Following events as part of London 2012 Festival, The National Theatre, Inside Out and the London International Mime Festival 2011, Upswing has established itself at the forefront of interdisciplinary circus in the UK.

Created by aerial director Vicki Amedume, theatre director Gemma Fairlie and writer Sonia Hughes.
