Theatre has the power to inspire children and we must encourage them to follow their dreams, no matter how big.’

Help us to nurture the next generation:

A Theatre Trip For Every Child
We believe that every child has the right to discover theatre. It gives children the opportunity to see life through a different lens and to develop their imaginations, vocabulary and creativity. There are huge arrays of benefits to children who engage with the arts. It promotes creativity; and develops problem-solving abilities and questioning techniques. The arts help children understand both themselves and their world, as well as connect more fully with their environment. Creativity in children allows them to think outside the box, finding solutions to problems. In the world today, we face huge challenges and it is vital that we engage our children with the ability to be innovative and be part of the change. We are seeking to build strong relationships with individuals and businesses in Lewisham to work with us to nurture a culturally engaged, confident new generation of children whilst strengthening the links between the residents of the borough and the business community. We believe that allowing children to experience the thrill of theatre on their doorstep creates a very special sense of place locally, where communities can discover incredible things going on right where they live and work.

MP

‘Having experienced firsthand the impact of early access to the arts, I’m delighted to be able to support A Theatre Trip for Every Child. It has the potential to make a huge difference to some 40,000 children in our borough each year and to influence their futures in a uniquely positive way.’

Gavin Barlow

‘We are passionate about every child having the chance to enjoy high quality theatre in their local area. Early access to the arts contributes significantly to a child’s development, sparking their curiosity and giving them new perspectives on the world. We believe very child should have the opportunity to benefit from that experience.’

Sir Steve Bullock

Mayor of Lewisham

‘We’re lucky enough to have a thriving arts ecology in Lewisham. This campaign provides a brilliant opportunity for local businesses and individuals to support all of our community to access it and be part of it from a young age.’
