    The Crows Plucked Your Sinews

London today, Somalia under British rule. Two women and two worlds collide.

May 2011: A young Somali woman sits in the dark of a Woolwich council house watching the assassination of Osama Bin Laden unfold on TV. Upstairs her ailing grandmother is talking to ghosts.

August 1913: A woman dervish warrior searches the body of a Tommy in British Somaliland. In the morning the killing will begin.

With live music and stunning visuals this theatrical exploration of the violence of empire and the poetry of resistance stars Yusra Warsama. The 5 March performance will feature guest musicians, poets and food in celebration of Somalia’s cultural traditions.

The Saturday 5 March performance will be followed by a celebration of Somali culture including food (£5 per head on the night), music and spoken word.

Written and directed by Hassan Mahamdallie

'A neat piece, carried by a tremendous performance by Yursa Warsama  – who portrays both the young British-Somali woman, caring for her dying grandmother in Woolwich, and her fearsome great-grandmother, a proud Dervish warrior who fought the British.' The Stage
