    Cabaret Playroom

Established artists and emerging performers bring ground-breaking works-in-progress to the Albany.

Now in its seventh season, the roll call of performers who've tried out new work in the Albany's intimate studio space to date includes Matthew Floyd-Jones, Ria Lina, Holly Penfield, Sarah-Louise Young, Kiki Lovechild and Paul L Martin. The night is co-curated by cabaret performer Tricity Vogue, and Lisa Lee of Rude Grrl.

    December Line-up:

    Victoria Falconer

Half-white, half-brown. Farm raised, city living. Femme-presenting, bisexually-orientated. This classically-trained cabaret show-off is stuck at the crossroads of identity politics. The lights aren’t changing. And she can’t drive.

Armed with “sharp, acidic wit” (GlamAdelaide), a “fabulously expressive face” (Herald Sun) and a bunch of musical instruments, this modern show woman conjures an honest, hilarious set about serious stuff. Like a TED talk. But with more tap dancing.

From the co-creator of international sensations EastEnd Cabaret and 1/3rd of award-winning feminist power trio Fringe Wives Club, this is an extract from Victoria Falconer’s first solo show. "Victoria's seemingly off-the-cuff commentary is the work of a comic genius." ★★★★★ Three Weeks. "An exceptional musician" - ★★★★½ The Adelaidian.

Oxymoron is her first solo outing, which will be debuting after a set of work-in-progress showings at the Adelaide Fringe in 2018.

    Elyssa Livergant

A boundary defying glamour queen and one-time child star. Manufactured overseas, Elyssa mixes vaudeville with decay, excess, burlesque and a little bit of post-punk grind.

    Evelinka Rose

Evelinka presents ‘Secrets’. Partly autobiographical and part fantasy, the piece delves into the seedy dark underworld of London's strip club scene with a diverse and eclectic group of women each with her own particular story.  Sexy, complex and shrewd, we see their humour, the chinks in their armour, and the extent to which they will exert their powers of seduction to get what they want. Secrets are being divulged.  Secrets are being concocted.  Secrets are being maintained. But what do our secrets truly conceal?

    Hosted by Tricity Vogue.
