    sound is sound is sound

Now in its fifth season, sound is sound is sound has become a regular fixture at the Albany. This genre busting night of experimental music features a heady mix of punk, free jazz, electronica, sound art and breakbeat.

Following on from the Lewisham Arthouse monthly series of sound and music, sound is sound is sound brings together the south east London underground, music from other London and UK scenes, and internationally renowned players.

London based collective whose members come from different corners of the alternative scene, bringing together the tactics of improvisation, electronica, and sound art. The band features the combined talents of Frank Byng (This Is Not This Heat, Prescott), Ben Cowen (7Hurtz), Tom Marriott (Pest) and Roberto Sassi (Vole) and for this performance with the addition of special guest Daniel O'Sullivan (Grumbling Fur, This Is Not This Heat and more).

Described as ‘…the missing link between Krautrock and Lee Scratch Perry’ (Rock a Rolla), to date they have released two albums (Glass Darkly in 2007 and Stop Machine in 2011) and an EP on Slowfoot Records, with a third album in the pipeline.

Molejoy is a band. Undermining with joyous anger pangs. On their own terms. Non-heroic beats for everyone who wants them. Songs and sounds about homogenous feels, pokemon go and radicalising your children. Kind of like... we don't really know. Molejoy is made up of Giles Brunch, Sophie Chapman and Kerri Jefferis.

Data Quack is a new 4 piece featuring:

Ben Vince (sax and electronics) is making waves with a series of solo releases and collaborations with Housewives and Mica Levi, threading his way through the London underground like a goods train.

Merlin Nova (keyboards) works in a variety of media, everything changes everything else, no borders, radio, film, song, movement, spoken word, and drawing. As well as her solo performance she is currently gigging with This Is Not This Heat.

Charles Hayward (drums) has started so he’ll just keep going, from This Heat to This Is Not This Heat and beyond, a 45 year music journey.

Pascal Colman (guitar, radio, cassette tapes) lifts heavy objects, installations, minimalist funk agogo; a witty, charming, illegible bachelor.

Data Quack’s music moves through an array of abstract textures, car chase sequences and violent grooves. Trigger warning: you will be triggered, that’s what music does

Negra Branca is the solo project of Marlene Ribeiro (of the Manchester psych heavyweights Gnod), her solo work navigates through mind-bending psych pop territory, combining lush layers of sounds, twinkly beats, far away vocals and melodic dreamscapes with deep, hypnotic dub inspired bass lines. Alien, tropical and sunny.
