Afrobeats 4 All
Afrobeats 4 All
A special event of music and inspiration held in support of the flood victims of Sierra Leone in conjunction with Street Child.
Afrobeats 4 All, headlined by Yasmin Kadi (a chart-topping artist and refugee of Freetown) includes performances from Suga Lulu, Double A, Lady I, Diamond City and guest speakers Lord Alfred ‘Alfie’ Dubs (House of Lords) and Siana Bangura (published writer and poet of Sierra Leonean descent). As Ben & Jerry’s is the main sponsor, arrive hungry for ice cream!
Yasmin Kadi: Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Yasmin was forced to flee to the UK with her family at a very young age, after her family home was attacked during the Sierra Leone blood diamond conflict.
Since her debut single Earthquake charted at #1 on iTunes Ireland, she has performed alongside Paloma Faith at London's O2 Forum, headlined the Women of the World festival in 2016 at the Southbank, toured with MOBO Award winning Hip Hop veteran Roots Manuva and appeared in music videos for the likes of Mary J. Blige, Jay Sean and Lil Wayne.
Yasmin was the face and voice of Channel 4’s ‘All 4’ campaign alongside Alan Carr and John Snow and stared alongside Usain Bolt in the new Virgin Media Campaign “This is Virgin Fiber”. She is even one of the lead performers in the latest Guitar Hero game and currently appearing in the ‘Next Generation’ collaboration between Gorillaz and Jaguar.
Her last single Go Down Low feat Moelogo, produced by SOS (Ariana Grande, Emeli Sande, Stormzy, Wretch 32, Tinie Tempah), was supported by the likes of SB:TV, Capital Xtra, Kiss Fresh, BBC Arts Hour, BBC Africa and BBC World Service.
All proceeds from Afrobeats 4 All will be going to Street Child who are one of the few NGO transparent charities currently on the ground in Sierra Leone’s capital Freetown, deploying much needed aid to the flood victims. They are currently providing survival essentials such as food and drinking water but vastly greater funds are needed to provide housing for homeless families.
