We are currently looking for people to join our Board of Trustees.

You might be familiar with our work as an audience member, volunteer or artist and/or have specialist skills to contribute to the Albany’s governance and ongoing success.

You must be a Member of The Albany 2001 Company to stand for election as a Trustee of the Albany, or to nominate other members. Membership is free and enables you to vote for, and to nominate, Trustees at our Annual General Meeting which next takes place on Thursday 4 March 2021. If you wish to join, please complete our membership form and return it to the Albany reception or via email.

As an organisation, we aim to encourage a culture where people can be themselves and be valued for their strengths. We want our Board to represent the same diversity of audiences and artists we welcome into our venues every day. We would therefore encourage you to consider standing yourself, or to make a nomination for someone to join our Board as a Trustee.

Whilst 2020 has been a challenging year, we were pleased to be announced as Lead Delivery Partner for Lewisham London Borough of Culture 2022. The winning bid, ‘I AM LEWISHAM’, was based around ‘cultural activism’ and the power of art and culture to change lives. We will be drawing on longstanding relationships and expertise to harness creativity and inspire change. New Trustees would therefore join our Board at an exciting time for both Lewisham and the Albany.

What does it mean to be an Albany Trustee?

If you are interested in becoming a Trustee, or nominating someone you know, we will be arranging two information sessions in which our Chief Operating Officer, Shenay Gaul, our Chair of Trustees, Dame Joan Ruddock, and other Trustees, will talk to you about the election process and what is involved when you become a Trustee of the Albany.

Information session

The information sessions will take place via Zoom on:

  • Tuesday 12 January at 6.30pm
  • Saturday 16 January at 11am

If you would like to attend the session, please email your interest by Friday 8 January to board@thealbany.org.uk and we will be in touch with details. The sessions will take place via Zoom, however if this is not suitable for you, we are happy to look at alternative options. Please let us know when you register your interest.

Making a nomination

Should you wish to make a nomination, please fill in our Nomination Form which should be sent to board@thealbany.org.uk, along with a statement explaining why you, or your nominated candidate, is suitable for the Albany’s board and why you/they wish to stand for election. This statement must be no longer than one side of A4 paper. A copy of these statements will be sent to all Members and will also be available at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will take place on Thursday 4 March. Those standing will be asked to deliver a short presentation at the AGM prior to the election.
