In a remarkable celebration of waywardness, ten Londoners and one dog come together to tell stories. What is captured on film is almost impossible to categorise, with its extraordinary convolutions of fiction, fact, animals, people, philosophy and song.

Filming (and preview screenings) took place in the Nomadic Gardens in the Eastend, where a space of trust was created for difficult stories to be told, culminating in performances that are raw and honest. The result is a challenging, poetic film – a Bicycle Thieves for Londoners and our time.

Here for Life is the product of a long collaboration between director Andrea Luka Zimmerman and theatre maker Adrian Jackson and a group of actors mostly drawn from an ensemble of Cardboard Citizens. The film, funded partly by Artangel, was awarded a Special Mention from the Concorso Cineasti del Presente jury during its premiere at the Locarno Film festival, Switzerland 15 August 2019, and prior to its UK and Ireland general release, 22 November 2019, was shortlisted for the Raindance Discovery Award at the annual British Independent Film Awards (BIFA). The film also won first prize for International Feature Film at PALMARES FESTIVAL DE CINEMA EN VILLE 2020.
