Noras of Lewisham is a project that honours women’s contribution to society and challenges stereotypes, highlighting and celebrate the extraordinary in the ordinary lives of diverse women in Lewisham. The Noras workshop aims to engage discussion about diverse women’s social and cultural contributions in the community; encourage people to explore their own creativity and share the creative process of the Noras project. It is a collage workshop in which collaboratively we will cut and paste ideas to empower the role of women in society. Participants will be guided into a creative process to imagine and design with no bounds.
Workshops are open to all, no experience is needed and all materials provided. Each workshop is limited to a maximum of 10 people.
Belén L.Yáñez is a performance and visual artist. Her work explores human interactions, identity, and feminism through collective participatory practices combining performance, visual art, and installation. She produces live experiences that challenge art and audience relationships creating spaces in which participants have the freedom to immerse themselves and push their known boundaries to encourage new ways of thinking and interacting. She constantly investigates new methodologies of participation to explore how audiences use the body as a medium to experience the space and interact with others, to explore identity and to reflect on current social issues.
This workshop is part of She Grrrowls, a programme of performances, workshops and talks highlighting local artists as part of We Are Lewisham, The Mayor’s London Borough of Culture award in celebration of International Women’s Day.
