Writing for Healing and Self Care

Saturday 2 October, 10:30am-12pm

Join Hasan for a workshop exploring writing, mark making and drawing as tools for self-care, healing, insight, memory and joy. You will leave the workshop with a few pieces to work on, and tools to take into your everyday. No pressure to share, although exploring your voice is encouraged!

Microgreens workshop

Saturday 2 October, 12:45pm – 1:30pm

Through this workshop with Jasmine, you will learn about vegetables and herbs that can be grown in small spaces as microgreens, and sow your own little container of Shiso, Basil and Daikon Radish to care for. We will explore how we can connect to a sense of place through the seasoning of food and the care and conditions it takes for the plants to grow.

Book your free tickets here.

Spaces of Care

Saturday 2 October, 2pm – 4pm

An open invitation for all carers – whether paid or unpaid – to join Spare Tyre associate artist Fauve Alice, who also works as a carer, in an open meeting on being a carer, how the conditions of care work can change for the better, and what these changes could look like. This conversation will be led by the individuals who are there and know the realities of care work. Together we will think about what challenges we face as care workers, and what could be done to improve our working conditions.

This is the start of a conversation and we hope it will lead to further gatherings. We want to create a collective voice of care workers in our local area!

Book your free tickets here.

Spare Tyre will also be presenting an Arts Installation piece at the Albany as part of The Festival of Radical Care on Monday 27 September – Monday 4 October. Find out more here.

Spare Tyre

Spare Tyre is a participatory theatre company that seeks to reflect society, challenge its prejudices and make life equal.
We create theatre with people that are under-represented in arts and culture and society’s decision-making at large. Built on more than 40 years experience, our work is participatory, collaborative, immersive, taboo-busting and above all responsive to the passions and talents of the people who make it.
