Following the latest Government guidance about Tier 3 restrictions we regrettably have to cancel all further performances of The Man Who Wanted to be a Penguin. We will be contacting bookers very soon with information about tickets.

Booked tickets and looking for the filmed version of the show? Access it here from the 18 December (make sure you’re logged into your Albany account)

This is the story of an extraordinary explorer, a curious conjurer and pioneering problem-solver. You’ll find him pottering in his shed; planning his latest mission. He is learning to speak Penguin and hopes that you will too!

When he arrives at the Antarctic, will its icy wilderness meet his excited expectations? Will the penguins’ reception be frosty or will the colony welcome him with open wings?

With a playful energy and a mix of puppetry, music and song, this show will be a delightful celebration of wild creativity and the joy of individuality.

Stuff and Nonsense is a spirited production company making inspiring theatre for bold adventurers. Artistic Director Niki McCretton works with incredible artists to make outstanding theatre that excites children and enables adults to become seriously playful. They have performed to over quarter of a million people this decade alone.

Waddle on down and join the expedition!

The Man Who Wanted to be a Penguin is co-commissioned by the Albany and ARC Stockton, supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, with additional support from The Lyric, Bridport and The Point, Eastleigh.
