Unravel was formed by four Deptford-based artists exploring fusion of electronic music and video work. Born out of a desire to find a safe space for experimentation and blurring of medium boundaries, the events offer an opportunity to engage in a performance that is unique and singular – allowing the performing artists to respond to the space and to one another’s work. Previous performances came from founding members Semi Precious and JL Segel, accompanied by original visual work from Yasmin Vardi. The upcoming event expands its curation, giving stage to bold, experimental pop acts REINEN, Ammonite and Hudson Scott in response to Vardi’s visual theme, ‘Natural Blue’.
REINEN, an alumni of the mercurial Paul Institute, is a genre bending art pop project. She utilises multiple media to frame her music, these will come to be known as REINEN Realms.
Ammonite is a project by songwriter-producer Amy Spencer. The artist explores the contrast between masculine and feminine; manmade and organic; technology and the female voice, where soft vocals meet electronic processing. Ammonite and Vardi’s visual collaboration takes influence from the lines in the Deptford river beds, intimacy and the colour blue.
Hudson Scott builds textural compositions and improvisations from trumpet and synthesizers. His work blurs the lines between drone, jazz, minimalism and song, to explore expressive and emotional motifs.
