About Deptford Lounge
The Albany manages Deptford Lounge on behalf of Lewisham Council.
The building is home to a library, computer labs, a school, meeting rooms, a dance studio, and even a rooftop ball court.
In the summer, we bring the community together for events on the square, and in winter we are a warm space, welcoming people in for a hot drink and a comfortable space to read, chat or study.
All year round, we programme regular events like our popular Roller Disco and chess club, and host exhibitions showcasing local artists. We collaborate with community organisations to put on large scale, inclusive events such as LDN Queer Mart and Vietnamese Lunar New Year, which in 2024 welcomed over 5000 visitors.
Our spaces are open for the community to use, and are regularly booked for meetings, workshops, clubs and sports.

By Train
We are 150m from Deptford Station (National Rail), around a two-minute walk.
We are 650m from New Cross Station (National Rail and Overground), around a nine-minute walk.
We are 650m from Deptford Bridge Station (DLR), around a nine-minute walk.
All these stations have step free access to all platforms via lifts.
By Bus
There are multiple bus routes serving the area, including the 171, 172, 177, 47, 53 and 453. Our closest bus stops are on New Cross Road and Deptford Church Street.
By Bike
We are close to the C4 and C10 cycle routes and there are bike racks located outside the front of the building on Giffin Square. You may leave your cycle in the rack at your own risk.
By Car
There is extremely limited parking in the local area and we would advise travelling by public transport where possible.
There are nearby free parking spaces for Blue Badge holders in Frankham Street car park (98m away, around a one-minute walk). The nearest drop-off point for cars and taxis is on Giffin Street, around 17m from our front door.

Deptford Lounge has been purpose built to welcome all members of the community irrespective of age, ability or additional needs.
The building has level access, with accessible toilets and a Changes Places toilet. Our toilets were named Lewisham’s Accessible Loo of the Year in 2023!
All lifts have vocal announcements and controls at a height suitable for wheelchair users.
Induction loops are available in all our meeting rooms. Customers with hearing aids will need to switch the hearing aid to the ‘T’ position to use this facility.
Assistance dogs are welcome in the building with their owners.
Should it be necessary to evacuate the building a continuous alarm will sound and red ceiling lights will begin to flash. There are refuge areas on all floors equipped with an Emergency Voice Communication System and Evacuation Chairs.
