Windows into the Unseen

Sheroes Collective presents its first public library exhibition.

The exhibition commemorate 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. 

This month-long exhibition will showcase the work of 16 women activist artists, transforming the library’s windows and public-facing spaces into sites of visibility, reflection, and dialogue.

Through installations, window interventions, and public programming, the project brings hidden and normalised forms of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) into public view, while amplifying stories of resilience, survival, and empowerment through collective care and action.

Using the library windows as both surface and symbol, the exhibition shifts experiences of violence from private, hidden spaces into collective public visibility.

Rather than associating visibility with shame, the project reclaims being seen as an act of power, courage, and resistance. If survivors can speak with bravery, then institutions, communities, and audiences are invited to look, acknowledge, and respond with equal courage.

The exhibition will extend beyond display into active public engagement, creating spaces for reflection, care, and action through creative workshops and talks.

SHEROES COLLECTIVE is an arts organisation that uses the power of art by women activist artists to celebrate women, raise awareness about gender-based violence and to challenge harmful representations of women in our visual culture. 

Through exhibitions and creative, healing, and care-centred projects, they foster connection, inspire dialogue and action, and works towards a more gender-equitable world.
