GROUNDATION-dancing from the archive is a Research and Development programme created to reintroduce IRIE! Dance Theatre’s performance company, back into the dance landscape. The work is reflecting on 38 years of creative and performance history to explore the roots of the company, and the basis of its movement language.

After an 18-years hiatus, paying particular attention to gaps in diversity in dance education and training. GROUNDATION, will communicate the storytelling, and amplify the nuances echoed in African and Caribbean culture. The movement combined with live drumming and percussions will demonstrate the resilience, beauty, and energy in Dance of the African Diaspora as this new generation of performers delve into the traditions and heritage that have shaped contemporary African and Caribbean dance.
